Christmas is a coming...

And I know someone who is SUPER excited!!  Since before Thanksgiving Sienna has been asking if it is Christmas yet and is Ho Ho Ho (Santa she calls him ho ho ho) coming down the chimney tonight?  She is in awe of all things Christmas!  She was so excited when daddy put the Christmas lights on the house and everyone started to decorate around the neighborhood.  We are constantly listening to "Up on the House Top" on repeat every day because she likes to sing the Ho Ho Ho part!  Now that it is December Mrs. Elf has arrived and she gets up and immediately asks to find her.  It is so much fun to see the excitement and joy she has for this season.  I want to stop time and freeze her in this phase where she is just so innocent and loves everything.  She is still a little wary of Santa when she sees him in person but loves to talk about him when he is not around.

Here is Sienna's rendition of "Up on the House Top" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raHNpAQlu_A&feature=youtu.be

55th St School

Sienna started Preschool this year for the first time.  She is going to Grandma O's school, 55th St School...where I went when I was little!  It has come full circle.  The first month of school was trying to say the least.  She was a perfect angel at school but when she was home she was on a whole new level of angry and it was tantrum central in our house!

She would have a fit if:

  • she wants apple juice
  • she wants to listen or watch Frozen
  • she wants the music louder..no louder.  Louder mommy!!!!
  • her seat belt is too tight
  • she wants me to hold her for 24 hours straight
  • she would only wear her cowgirl boots, even on 90 degree days
  • she wants to dress herself...ok see you in an hour
  • she only wants to wear "pretty dresses" (we are running out of dresses and it is getting colder)
  • if I look at her
  • if LT looks at her
  • if she can't go see Sienna Mae (this is a big one!)
  • if she can't see Ashleigh or Aliya
  • if she can't see Hankie Dog
  • she wouldn't eat and if we try to give her bites she throws her food
All of these things result in a kicking, screaming, crying, tantrum.  You know...the fun stuff!

Here is a sample of what it was like:

BUT!!!  Since that fateful first month she has turned it around and has been GREAT!  She doesn't totally love school YET but she likes it and knows that she gets to see Grandma a couple of times a day which is a bonus.  And every other Thursday is dance class which she absolutely LOVES!!!  I am so thankful that we have such a great school to take her too and that she is branching out of her comfort zone and making new friends.  Here are some pictures that the teachers send to me throughout the day.  We have our parent teacher conference next week so let's hope that she gets good reviews and so do we...but hey, we know the boss so we better get a good review! ;).

Cry it out is for babies...

So what the heck Sienna??  Why do you always need to cry it out every night for the past couple of weeks before you go to sleep?  Did we revert back to the infant phase at 2 1/2 years old?  Well I am not a fan and neither is your father.

You sleep fantastic at Pre School with 15 other kids but when it comes to the weekends at home you refuse to nap!  Maybe you are growing out of it??  I hope not.

Oh well, I think half of my blog posts are about you not sleeping.  I can see the trend here.  You know how parents always post pics of their kids sleeping all sweet and dreamy in their beds, well I will not dare ever even enter your room for fear that you will wake up with the twist of the doorknob.

I hope when you turn 3 your sleep until 7AM and go to sleep at night without crying and asking for a zillion hugs, the blanket to cover every inch of your body, or having to go to the potty 3 times in 30 minutes.  Cross your fingers!!!

Happy sleeping my sweet little girl!

This is when you were sick...but you looks so precious when you are sleeping. Try it sometime.

Cannon Beach 2014

We had an absolute blast in Cannon Beach this year!  So many family members came to visit.  It was a perfect week.  We had many happy hours at the Warren's Pub with the very delicious Blackberry Beauty Beer, morning and evening walks on the beach, campfires with smores, and lots of coffee from the Sleepy Monk.  The dinners were jam packed with people and tons of great food!  Sienna got to play with a lot of her cousins which talked about for weeks after and still talks about.  The weather was perfect and we did the traditional trip to Seaside for bumper cars and ice cream.  This year Sienna said she wanted to ride with me in the bumper cars...that lasted all of 5 seconds and then we got hit and she bumped her head on the wheel and they stopped the ride so we could get off and we cheered from the sideline the rest of the time. :)

I love that we do this every year with both sides of the family.  We all have the best time and get a little relaxation mixed in there as well!  Until next year CB!!

Here is a video to show just how much fun kids have at the beach!  P.S. boys v. girls cracks me up!:
